SaintA Social Run Club Disclaimer
By registering for and participating in a SaintA Social Run Club event (the “Event”), I acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Nature and Purpose of the Event
SaintA Social Run Club is a free, informal group training run designed to bring like-minded adults together (18 years and over) to exercise and socialise in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The Event is a loosely structured gathering of runners and is not a formal membership club or professionally guided session.
Volunteer guides provide the running route and facilitate the group but are not responsible for participants’ safety.
2. Participation and Responsibility
Know Your Limits:
I acknowledge that running is a physical activity that requires a level of fitness and health.
It is my responsibility alone to assess my fitness and ability to participate in the Event. If I am unsure, I will consult my doctor or another relevant healthcare professional before attending.
I confirm that I am fit and able to run and understand the importance of knowing my limits.
Health Conditions:
If I have any medical conditions that could affect me during the Event, I will inform the volunteer guide before participating.
I will not participate if I am unwell, injured, or have a condition that could pose a risk to my health or safety.
Stopping Mid-Session:
If I feel dizzy, faint, or unwell at any point during the Event, I will stop running immediately and notify the volunteer guide.
If I stop mid-session, I will notify the volunteer guide before leaving the group or going home.
Entirely at Your Own Risk:
I accept full and complete responsibility for my own actions, safety, and wellbeing during the Event.
I understand that the organisers, volunteers, or anyone acting on their behalf accept no responsibility for any injury, loss, or damage that may arise as a result of my participation, except for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
3. Safety Guidelines
Clothing and Equipment:
I will wear appropriate running footwear and clothing suitable for the weather and lighting conditions.
During darker evenings, I will wear high-visibility reflective clothing and carry a head torch, LED lights/vest, or handheld torch.
No bare torso running is allowed while participating in the Event.
Traffic and Hazards:
I will exercise caution when running on pavements, crossing roads, and navigating traffic.
I will remain alert to potential hazards and take responsibility for my own safety.
Use of Headphones:
If I choose to wear headphones, I will ensure they do not impair my ability to hear my surroundings, including traffic, other runners, and pedestrians. Open headphones, which allow external sounds to be heard, are recommended.
Mobile Phones and Belongings:
I am encouraged to carry a mobile phone during the Event for safety purposes.
Any personal belongings brought to the Event, left at the venue, or along the route are my sole responsibility. The organisers accept no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal items.
4. Community Conduct
Respect for Others:
SaintA Social Run Club welcomes participants of all backgrounds and abilities. I will treat all participants, pedestrians, and pavement users with respect and courtesy, including those using mobility aids or vehicles.
I will avoid behaviour that could endanger others or bring the Event into disrepute.
Inclusivity:
The Event is open to adults aged 18 and over. Regrettably, dogs and other pets are not permitted.
Non-Competitive Activity:
The Event is a social and supportive activity. Times and distances are not recorded, and there are no winners. A conversational pace is encouraged.
5. Volunteer Role and Authority
Volunteer guides provide the running route and facilitate the group but do not provide professional training, coaching or supervision.
The volunteer guide reserves the right to refuse participation to anyone they believe is not fit, appropriately equipped, or safe to run with the group.
Run leaders, volunteers and other runners may share experience and knowledge with participants - but this should in no way be considered professional advice.
6. Media Usage
Photographs or videos taken during the Event may be shared on SaintA Social Run Club’s social media or other platforms. If I do not wish for my image to be used, I will inform the organiser before the Event.
7. Liability
Participation in the Event is entirely at my own risk.
The organisers, volunteers, or anyone acting on their behalf accept no liability for any injury, loss, or damage that may arise as a result of my participation in the Event, except for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
8. Cancellations and Special Conditions
The organiser may cancel an Event for safety reasons, such as dangerous weather conditions (e.g., storms, ice, or temperatures below 0°C).
9. Acknowledgement and Agreement
By ticking the box during registration, I confirm that:
I have read, understood, and agree to this disclaimer.
I accept full responsibility for my own health, safety, and actions during the Event.
I understand that the organisers, volunteers, or anyone acting on their behalf are not liable for any loss, damage, or claims arising in connection with my participation, except as outlined in the liability clause.
I understand that the Event is an informal, voluntary activity and not a professionally guided or formal membership club.
